The Syrians celebrate numerous feasts in a year. All feasts are not equally important. They can be divided into 4 grades according to their importance. Feasts coming under this group are mostly feasts of St. Mary and other saints. It is recommended that H. Eucharist be offered and these feasts be observed generally in all churches; but are not obligatory. For example, the day of demise of a particular saint or apostle may be observed as a feast in that particular church, but not elsewhere.
